Conclusion
The development of better technology used to build houses has helped increase the standard of living for people around the world as higher quality materials are used to build houses. It is interesting to note that at the start, technology was the driving force behind the science of buildings. People realised that cement and rocks made sturdier houses compared to those made of straw through experiments and personal experiences, not through understanding the science behind it. It was only in recent years when the science behind the materials was analysed and this spurred the invention of more durable and environmentally-friendly materials, thereby developing the technology for construction of modern houses.
The diffusion of a technology is often more important than its invention, since most significant technological advances depend upon previous innovations and adaptations of technologies from other industries and thus require sizeable periods of trial and error. The adoption of new innovations and inventions often benefit the users by increasing standard of living and quality of life, thereby effectuating world change.
